Job description

An exciting opportunity for a Group Credit Manager has become available at our Head Office. This challenging yet rewarding role involves leading Credit Control for our group of companies, reporting to the Finance Director. The role includes overseeing credit-related activities such as risk management, developing and implementing credit policies, and managing the team. This is an office-based position at our Head Office in Shirley, near the M42.

The successful candidate will:

• Have prior experience working within a busy credit control team,
• Possess strong financial understanding,
• Be capable of problem-solving,
• Be confident in leading a team,
• Be self-motivated and driven,
• Have excellent communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the success of the credit function.

Key responsibilities include:

• Act as the lead contact with Credit Insurers, monitoring insured limits, submitting claims promptly, assisting in renewal negotiations,
• Organise and lead monthly meetings with senior management,
• Provide management information on bad debts, debtor days, collections, and ad-hoc reports,
• Manage cash collection for all Group companies,
• Ensure departmental systems and protocols are efficient and well-policed,
• Oversee the Credit Control Department and manage the team proactively,
• Handle credit applications and POD processing,
• Make major or sensitive credit decisions,
• Control credit limits,
• Manage litigation, insolvency practitioners, and pursue claims,
• Set and manage credit policies and credit notes,
• Conduct risk assessments for existing and new credit applicants,
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders,
• Review sales terms and conditions,
• Visit customers and company sites as needed.
