Job description

An exciting opportunity for a Group Credit Manager has become available at our Head Office. This challenging yet rewarding role involves leading Credit Control for our group of companies, reporting to the Finance Director. The role requires overseeing credit-related activities such as risk management, developing and implementing credit policies, and managing the team. It is an office-based position at our Head Office in Shirley, near the M42.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have prior experience working within a busy credit control team,
  • Possess strong financial understanding,
  • Be capable of problem-solving,
  • Be confident in leading a team,
  • Be self-motivated and driven,
  • Have excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the success of the company's credit function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the lead contact with Credit Insurers, monitor insured limits, submit claims promptly, assist in renewal negotiations,
  • Organize and lead monthly meetings with senior management,
  • Provide management information on bad debts, debtor days, collections, and other reports,
  • Manage cash collection for all Group companies,
  • Ensure departmental systems and protocols are efficient and adhered to,
  • Oversee the Credit Control Department and manage the team proactively,
  • Process all group credit applications and PODs,
  • Make major or sensitive credit decisions,
  • Control credit limits,
  • Manage litigation, insolvency practitioners, and pursue claims,
  • Set and manage credit policies and credit notes,
  • Conduct risk assessments for existing accounts and new applicants,
  • Maintain strong relationships with Credit Control, senior management, and other departments,
  • Review sales terms and conditions before approval,
  • Visit customers and company sites as needed.
