Job description

An exciting opportunity for a Group Credit Manager has become available at our Head Office. This challenging yet rewarding role involves leading Credit Control for our group of companies, reporting directly to the Finance Director. The position entails overseeing credit-related activities such as managing risk, developing and implementing credit policies, and managing the team. This is an office-based role at our Head Office in Shirley, near the M42.

The successful candidate will:

• Have prior experience working within a busy credit control team,
• Possess strong financial understanding,
• Be capable of problem-solving,
• Be confident in leading a team,
• Be self-motivated and driven,
• Have excellent communication skills, as the role involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of the company's credit function.

Key responsibilities include:

• Act as the main contact with Credit Insurers, monitoring insured limits, submitting claims promptly, and assisting in renewal negotiations,
• Organise and lead monthly meetings with senior management,
• Provide management information to the senior team on debt status, debtor days, collections, and other reports as needed,
• Handle cash collection for all Group companies,
• Ensure departmental systems and protocols are efficient and adhered to,
• Oversee the Credit Control Department and manage the team proactively,
• Manage credit applications and provision of PODs,
• Make major or sensitive credit decisions,
• Control credit limits,
• Manage litigation and insolvency proceedings, pursue claims,
• Set and manage credit policies and credit notes,
• Assess risks for existing accounts and new credit applicants,
• Maintain strong relationships with Credit Control, senior management, and other departments,
• Review sales Terms and Conditions before approval,
• Visit customers and company sites as required,
