Job description

An exciting opportunity for a Group Credit Manager has become available at our Head Office. This challenging yet rewarding role involves leading Credit Control for our group of companies, reporting to the Finance Director. The role includes overseeing credit-related activities such as risk management, developing and implementing credit policies, and managing the team. This is an office-based position at our Head Office in Shirley, near the M42.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have prior experience working within a busy credit control team,
  • Possess strong financial understanding,
  • Be capable of problem-solving,
  • Be confident in leading a team,
  • Be self-motivated and driven,
  • Have excellent communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the success of the company's credit function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the lead contact with Credit Insurers, monitor insured limits, submit claims promptly, assist in renewal negotiations,
  • Organise and lead monthly meetings with senior management,
  • Provide management information to the senior team on debts, debtor days, collections, and ad-hoc reports,
  • Manage cash collection for all Group companies,
  • Ensure departmental systems and protocols are effective and followed,
  • Oversee the Credit Control Department and manage the team proactively,
  • Handle credit applications and documentation,
  • Make major or sensitive credit decisions,
  • Control credit limits,
  • Manage litigation and insolvency processes, pursue claims,
  • Set and manage credit policies and credit notes,
  • Assess risk for existing accounts and new applicants,
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders,
  • Review sales Terms and Conditions before approval,
  • Visit customers and company sites as needed.
