Lanes Group, a leading civil utility services provider, requires a Civils Operative to support groundwork and drainage works at Aldwarke, Rotherham. You will dig trenches, install pipes, and maintain excavation safety, logging site records on handheld devices and coordinating with teams on safety and quality standards.

The role demands a full UK driving license, a civils background, strong safety focus, and the ability to work flexibly across site activities with a positive team approach.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license is essential.
• Civils background, ideally from Utilities sector.
• Strong health and safety awareness with site experience.
• Ability to report defects and hazards proactively.
• Willingness to undertake required certifications and training.

Responsibilities

• Carry out groundwork tasks: digging trenches, laying pipes and surface prep.
• Install and maintain pumping systems and ensure safe excavations.
• Update site documentation using electronic tablets.
• Operate machinery and tools safely to assist with tasks.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and maintenance to ensure roadworthiness.
• Maintain equipment and ensure good working condition.
• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Ensure live on/off sites to meet highway permits.
• Read drainage plans and record photographic evidence.
