Job summary

Lanes Group is seeking a Civils Operative to join our team in Aldwarke, Rotherham. You will support civil engineering and drainage works by carrying out groundwork and construction tasks, ensuring safety and compliance with client requirements.

Working on-site at Aldwarke, the role covers excavation, pipe installation, and site maintenance with use of equipment. A valid UK driving license and civils background are required; overtime is available.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving license is essential.
• Civils background ideal, preferably from Utilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• High awareness of health, safety and environmental procedures on site.
• Ability to identify and report defects, hazards, and issues proactively.

Responsibilities

• Carry out groundwork tasks such as digging trenches, laying pipes, spot repairs and preparing surfaces for construction.
• Install and maintain over-pumping systems and maintain safe excavations with installation of ground support.
• Update and complete site documentation using an electronic tablet.
• Operate machinery and tools safely and efficiently to assist with various tasks.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and maintenance to ensure roadworthiness.
• Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Wear and maintain Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
• Ensure on/off sites are live to avoid penalties with highway permits.
• Read and understand drainage plans.
• Record photographic evidence of jobs performed and completed.
