Job summary

Ground Control in the United Kingdom is seeking a General Labourer / Groundworker to support MER teams. You will assist with mobilisation, excavation and reinstatement, prepare sites, handle materials and operate basic tools while maintaining safety standards. A CSCS card or equivalent is required, and willingness to learn and adapt on site is essential. The role offers a competitive package and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in general labouring, groundwork or construction.
• Basic understanding of excavation and reinstatement.
• Comfortable using hand tools and basic site equipment.
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn.
• Good team player with a positive attitude.
• CSCS card or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support MER Operatives with mobilisation, excavation and reinstatement activities.
• Help prepare sites, including clearing areas, setting up barriers and maintaining safe access.
• Assist with manual digging, handling tools and managing excavated materials.
• Support backfilling, compaction and reinstatement of excavated areas.
• Use basic tools and equipment such as compactors, shovels and wheelbarrows.
• Assist with loading, unloading and moving equipment, tools and materials.
• Keep tools and equipment clean, safe and in good working condition.
• Report damaged or faulty equipment to the Site Supervisor.
• Take part in toolbox talks, safety briefings and daily risk assessments.
• Follow all HSE requirements and keep sites clean, tidy and safe.
• Work closely with MER Operatives and the wider team to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
