Job summary

QinetiQ Shoeburyness is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join the Estates Delivery team within UK Defence Operations. You will deliver planned and requested grounds activities to ensure a high-quality Grounds Operations service.

The role involves strimming, hedge cutting, ride-on grass cutting and general site maintenance. It is 37 hours per week at the Shoeburyness site; a full UK Driving Licence is required and SC clearance eligibility is noted in the posting.

• Experience delivering a range of grounds maintenance services including general upkeep and specialist tasks.
• Ability to prioritise workloads effectively to meet operational and business needs.

• Overseeing and monitoring delivery of allocated tasks.

• Delivering specialist grounds services including attention to pest and tree hazards
• Maintaining knowledge and awareness of the site grounds, where the team will keep abreast of land legislation and standards alongside technical requirements/developments
• Supporting site preparations and responses to enable ongoing safe access and use of premises
• Ensuring correct prioritisation of work programme to satisfy business needs
• Ensuring maintenance standards and quality of work delivered are to the required level

The Role

As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you’ll work as a valued member of the Estates Delivery team within UK Defence Operations, and the role will provide support by delivering planned or requested activities in order to effectively deliver a high‑quality Grounds Operations service.

Day-to-day, you’ll deliver grounds maintenance services, identifying areas for improvement, additional demand and to ensure key first and last impressions on the site are always maintained. This will include carrying out a wide range of grounds‑based activities including strimming, hedge cutting, ride‑on (grass cutting) and general site maintenance.

Shoeburyness

QinetiQ Shoeburyness is a significant test and evaluation facility specialising in defence and security technologies. The site is focused on Environmental Testing including the evaluation of various ordnance, explosives and related systems. Implementing measures to ensure that testing activities comply with environmental regulations and minimise ecological impact.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
