Job summary

Sainsbury's is seeking a Customer Delivery Driver to bring online orders to customers’ doorsteps with warmth and care. You’ll drive a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van, ensure on-time delivery, check vehicles and loads, and keep customers informed about any delays.

You’ll join a team that values safety, efficiency and friendly service, while also supporting store operations when needed. A full UK driving licence and willingness to learn delivery technology are required.

Qualifications

• You must be over 18 and have held a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points.
• You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview.
• You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK.
• Sainsbury’s has installed in-cab AI cameras to monitor driver behaviour and support safe driving.

Responsibilities

• Being the face of Sainsbury’s at every doorstep you deliver to, making customers feel valued through a thoughtful, friendly and helpful delivery service.
• Drive a 3.5 tonne refrigerated van to deliver groceries on time and in great condition.
• Complete checks to ensure the van is roadworthy, clean and organized, and that customers’ shopping is secure before setting off.
• Follow planned routes and drive safely in various locations, traffic, weather and road conditions.
• Move containers weighing up to 15kg and deliver to properties with potential steps, lifts or longer walks from the van.
• Communicate clearly with customers, keeping them informed of delays and changes to orders.
• Assist across the store when not out delivering, as needed.
