Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Greenspace Technical Officer to drive volunteer and community growing support within Edinburgh’s parks and greenspaces. The role involves engaging with residents, volunteers and community groups, delivering food growing and greenspace grants, and supporting the new Volunteer Action Plan.

Qualifications

• Experience in greenspaces sector, with interest in environmental volunteering and community growing.
• Project management skills and ability to develop processes and procedures.
• Experience developing communications and working directly with volunteers to support community participation.

Responsibilities

• Lead engagement with public, Friends of Parks groups and community groups to promote environmental volunteering and community food growing.
• Deliver the Right to Grow policy and set up/administer community greenspace and food growing grant programmes.
• Work with volunteers to roll out the Volunteer Action Plan and support community-led In Bloom schemes across the city.
