Job summary

Kirklees Metropolitan Council is seeking a Greenspace & Environment Enforcement Officer to join the Greenspace Action Team. You will play a vital front-line role in tackling environmental anti-social behaviour, helping to keep neighbourhoods safe, clean and welcoming for everyone.

The role involves engaging with residents, businesses and partners, using education and enforcement to drive positive behavioural change. A permanent, local government position with development opportunities is offered.

Qualifications

• Full, clean driving licence and willingness to pass a Kirklees Council driving assessment.
• Strong written and IT skills to produce accurate notes, reports and statements.

Responsibilities

• Providing a visible presence across Kirklees to deter and address environmental anti-social behaviour.
• Engaging with individuals, communities and groups to promote environmental responsibility and improvement.
• Investigating complaints and concerns, gathering evidence and preparing case files where enforcement action is required.
• Issuing warnings, notices and fixed penalties in line with legislation, council policy and best practice.
• Supporting legal proceedings where necessary, including preparing statements and attending court.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to deliver shared environmental objectives.
