AECOM is recruiting a Graduate Tunnelling and Underground Structures Engineer in Birmingham to join our growing Transportation team. You will contribute to design studies, feasibility assessments and multidisciplinary projects covering tunnels, shafts and caverns under supervision.

The graduate programme emphasizes hands-on development, Chartered pathway support, and exposure to major UK infrastructure work with a hybrid working arrangement.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering with 2:1 or higher.
• MSc/MEng in Civil/Geotechnical/Tunnelling is advantageous.
• Any construction experience from the degree is helpful.
• Willing to work toward ICE or IStructE chartership.

Responsibilities

• Work on tunnelling and underground structures projects across varied sectors.
• Apply civil, structural and geotechnical knowledge in design.
• Conduct feasibility studies and optioneering for safe construction.
• Design tunnels, shafts and caverns using various methods.
• Identify and resolve engineering problems using finite element methods.
• Lead small projects or parts of larger projects over time.
