Job summary

The AA in Basingstoke is seeking a Graduate Trading Analyst to join our Broker Trading team. You will support the delivery of the trading plan across Motor, Van and Home insurance portfolios and turn data into meaningful insights.

You’ll monitor trading performance, explore market trends and help drive acquisition, retention and customer value through clear analysis and recommendations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2:1 degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or another numerate discipline with a strong analytical focus.
• Strong numerical and analytical capability demonstrated during your degree.
• Ability to interpret complex information and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Support trading activity across the Broker Insurance portfolio to help optimise customer acquisition, retention and value.
• Analyse quotes, conversion, sales and value metrics to provide clear insight into performance across the sales funnel.
• Explore competitor activity and market trends to help identify opportunities and inform future trading scenarios.
• Prepare, validate and maintain trading data so analysis is accurate and data quality and governance standards are maintained.
• Provide analysis for business case appraisals, helping colleagues make informed commercial decisions.
• Deliver accurate, timely analysis and reporting that makes key Broker performance metrics clear and usable.
• Support external reporting requirements with reliable analysis and management information when required.

Job Description

Qualifications

You’ll Bring

• A 2:1 degree or above in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or another numerate discipline with a strong analytical focus.
• Strong numerical and analytical capability, with evidence of applying data analysis during your degree.
• The ability to interpret complex information and communicate findings clearly.
• A commercially focused, action‑oriented approach to using analysis to support business performance.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with others.
• Curiosity, organisation and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced trading environment.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge or experience of Databricks, SQL, SAS or Power BI.
• Experience or knowledge of Motor, Van or Home insurance, including portfolio economics, customer value or retention drivers.
• Programming skills, for example VB or Java.
