Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in York is seeking a Graduate Town Planner to join a multidisciplinary consultancy delivering planning and engineering services across the UK. The role offers a permanent position with a competitive salary and clear career development paths.

You will assist with planning applications, policy research, and documentation, liaising with clients and authorities while developing skills in residential, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a related discipline.
• Interest in the built environment and UK planning system.
• Strong written and verbal communication with clear presentation.
• Good research, analytical and organisational skills.
• Proactive, eager to learn and take on new challenges.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and submission of planning applications and supporting documentation.
• Undertake planning policy research and review local and national guidance.
• Support preparation of planning statements, reports and other technical documents.
• Liaise with clients, local planning authorities and project stakeholders.
• Monitor applications and assist with coordination and administration.
• Assess development proposals for opportunities and constraints.
• Contribute to residential, renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with colleagues across planning, landscape architecture and civil engineering.
