Job summary

Confidential in Dover is seeking a Graduate Town Planner to join our planning team on a permanent basis. The role offers a structured path to Chartered status and exposure to development projects across local authorities.

You will assist with planning applications, policy research, statements and representations, and support senior colleagues on appeals and enforcement matters while developing professional skills in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or closely related discipline.
• Genuine interest in the UK planning system and development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good research and analytical abilities.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proactive, practical approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications.
• Supporting planning appraisals and development potential assessments.
• Undertaking planning policy research and reviewing local planning documents.
• Assisting with the preparation of planning statements, reports and representations.
• Supporting senior colleagues with planning appeals and enforcement matters.
• Assisting with development plan and Local Plan representations.
• Liaising with local planning authorities and other professional consultants.
• Undertaking site visits and gathering information to support planning advice.
• Monitoring planning applications and progressing projects through the planning process.
