We are actively recruiting for a specialist SEN setting in Gateshead, seeking OUTSTANDING recent or upcoming graduates who plan to study PGCE qualifications and wish to gain SEN school experience in the meantime. This Graduate Teaching Assistant SEN role offers paid experience to support your further study ambitions.
The setting caters to learners aged 9-18 with ASD and SEMH. No prior experience is necessary, but you must be empathetic, a quick learner, and passionate about helping young people with learning difficulties. The setting is OFSTED graded 'Good' and provides a supportive, friendly environment.
We welcome graduates from any subject area with career goals in teaching. As part of a team of teaching assistants, you will support secondary students both individually and in groups, helping to improve academic outcomes and motivation. You may also assist with lesson planning in the future.
The role requires a Monday to Friday commitment, with working hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (to be confirmed). Positions start in June, July, and September 2025. We seek candidates with patience, kindness, tenacity, and strong relationship-building skills.
Applicants should have a good understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful candidates will undergo background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or applying for a new one.
