GSL Education is excited to offer an opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a well-regarded secondary school in North Shields. This is a fantastic stepping stone into the education sector—perfect for those considering a career in teaching or educational support.
As a Graduate TA, you will play a key role in supporting both teaching staff and students. Your work will help students build confidence, develop academic skills, and prepare for their next steps—whether that’s university, apprenticeships, or employment.
Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons
Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to student needs
Help students prepare for exams, assignments, and future pathways
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
Promote resilience, independence, and a love of learning
A university degree in any subject
️ A passion for working in education and helping young learners
️ Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Patience, empathy, and a positive, proactive attitude
An up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years with no unexplained gaps)
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Competitive daily pay (£84 - £108, depending on experience)
Pathways into teaching or other school-based careers
Supportive school settings with expert guidance from your GSL consultant
This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. All successful applicants will need to pass enhanced DBS checks and meet all safer recruitment criteria.
