GSL Education are offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN) to support students with diverse learning needs in primary and secondary schools across Sunderland. This role is ideal for those considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or therapy.
Why This Role?
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN), you’ll work closely with teachers and SENCOs to support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Providing one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEN.
Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons that meet individual learning needs.
Helping students develop confidence, independence, and key skills.
Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Monitoring progress and sharing feedback with teachers and parents.
️ Supporting students during breaks, lunchtime, and transitions.
What We’re Looking For:
️ A degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent).
️ Experience working with children or young people, ideally in education or care.
️ A passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs.
️ Understanding of autism, ADHD, and other SEN conditions.
️ Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
️ Ability to work well as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers.
️ An up-to-date CV (covering the last 10 years with no unexplained gaps).
️ An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
