Responsibilities

  • Work with teaching staff to implement support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and raise concerns to the team.

Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant

Location: L15, Liverpool

Salary: £24,000 - £28,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Start Date: Immediate - September 2026

We are recruiting for a Graduate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a college setting in the L15 area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to build a career within education, learning support or SEN, working alongside experienced teaching and support staff to help students achieve their full potential.

The Role

You will provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs, helping them engage with their learning and develop greater independence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to students
  • Supporting students with additional learning needs within the classroom
  • Helping students access and engage with their studies
  • Supporting communication, confidence and independent learning
  • Assisting students with organisation, concentration and classroom participation
  • Working closely with teaching staff to implement appropriate support strategies
  • Monitoring student progress and communicating any concerns to the wider team
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
  • Supporting students to develop their confidence and independence
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree - essential
  • A genuine interest in SEN and supporting young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy and a calm approach
  • The confidence to work with students with a range of additional needs
  • A proactive, adaptable and supportive approach
  • Strong organisational skills

Previous SEN or education experience is advantageous but not essential. Experience working with young people, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering or supporting individuals with additional needs would be highly beneficial.
