Job summary

Rogers McHugh Recruitment is seeking a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join a busy commercial team in Hull on retail fit‑out projects. You will work alongside experienced surveyors and gain hands-on exposure to the commercial management of retail schemes across the UK.

The role focuses on developing your skills in procurement, cost reporting and project cost control, with full training provided and opportunities to progress to managing your own projects.

Qualifications

• You will ideally have a 2:1 degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related subject.
• You should have a genuine interest in developing a career within quantity surveying and construction.
• Good numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to learn and take responsibility.
• The ability to work as part of a wider commercial and project team.
• A full UK driving licence would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supporting Quantity Surveyors with the commercial management of projects.
• Assisting with subcontract procurement and tendering.
• Helping to prepare valuations and cost reports.
• Monitoring project costs and expenditure.
• Assisting with variations and change control.
• Supporting the preparation of forecasts and financial information.
• Developing relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assisting with subcontractor payments and final accounts.
• Working closely with Project Managers and the wider delivery team.
• Learning how to manage commercial risk and protect project profitability.
• Building your knowledge of contracts, procurement and commercial management.
