Job summary

Rogers McHugh Recruitment is seeking a Graduate Project Manager for a leading retail fit-out contractor in Hull. You will join an experienced delivery team, receive full training, and gain hands-on exposure to live projects across the UK.

Ideal candidates are recent graduates with a 2:1 degree in construction-related fields who are organised, communicative, and eager to develop a career in project management. Driving licence is beneficial but not essential.

• A full UK driving licence would be beneficial.
• Previous experience in construction or retail fit-out is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with the delivery of live construction projects.
• Assist with project planning, programme management and scheduling.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Attend site meetings and progress reviews.
• Monitor progress, quality and programme; prepare project documentation.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders; assist with cost awareness.
• Travel to sites across the UK as required.

Graduate Project Manager - Retail Fit-Out

Location: Hull, East Yorkshire

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum

About you

You are a recent graduate who is looking to build a career in construction project management and want the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals while gaining hands‑on experience on live projects.

You may have studied Construction Management, Project Management, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or a related subject, ideally achieving a 2:1 degree or above.

You do not need previous experience in retail fit‑out. What matters most is that you are organised, commercially aware, confident communicating with people and genuinely interested in developing a career within construction.

You will join an experienced project delivery team who will support and develop you from day one, giving you exposure to live projects and gradually increasing your responsibility as your experience grows.

Ideally, you will live within around one hour's commute of Hull, as the role will be office based with regular travel to projects across the UK.

Your experience

• Previous experience within construction, retail fit‑out or refurbishment would be beneficial but is not essential.

Full training will be provided, making this a genuine opportunity for a graduate to join an established contractor and develop into a Project Manager.

What you will be doing with your experience

You will initially work closely with experienced Project Managers, gaining an understanding of how projects are planned, managed and delivered from start to finish.

As you develop, you will become increasingly involved in the day‑to‑day management of retail fit‑out and refurbishment projects for major clients across the UK.

Your role will include:

• Supporting Project Managers with the delivery of live construction projects
• Assisting with project planning and programme management
• Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
• Attending site meetings and project progress meetings
• Helping to monitor project progress, quality and programme
• Assisting with the preparation of project documentation and reports
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors and other project stakeholders
• Supporting the management of variations and changes to the works
• Helping to identify and resolve project issues
• Monitoring health and safety and ensuring site requirements are being followed
• Working closely with the commercial team to understand project costs and financial performance
• Developing an understanding of construction programmes, contracts and project delivery
• Travelling to sites across the UK as required

As your experience develops, you will be given increasing responsibility and the opportunity to progress towards managing your own projects.

You will gain exposure to the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and mobilisation through to construction, handover and completion.
