Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK (formerly Hanson UK) offers a two-year graduate programme for a Mechanical Engineering graduate. Location: Purfleet, salary £30,937pa, fixed-term contract, 40 hours per week.

You will gain a comprehensive understanding of cement production, drive process improvements and work with multiple departments to achieve targets. Entry requirements include graduating in 2026 or 2027 with a 2:1 in Mechanical Engineering, UK citizenship or settled status, and a valid UK driving

Qualifications

• Graduate with a Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to learn and develop across the cement production domain.

Responsibilities

• Gain understanding of cement making process including production skills and strategic management.
• Design and implement improvements to mill and kiln efficiencies; include inspections and studies.
• Monitor process parameters and KPI reporting; coordinate with other departments to hit targets.
• Share best practices with Hanson cement plants and support safety and sustainability initiatives.
