Job summary

Kent is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join the Graduate Development Programme in our Woking office. You will work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of energy projects, receiving mentoring and hands-on experience to develop technical and professional skills for a career in engineering.

Our hybrid working model combines office and remote work, with three days in the office to foster team collaboration and project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering accredited by a professional engineering institution.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality procedures and best practice.
  • Excellent command of English in written and spoken communication.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers and provide support on energy projects under close supervision.
  • Complete the Kent Graduate Development Programme.
  • Work within the mechanical design and project execution framework.
  • Contribute to deliverables and input to decision making with the team.
  • Align with Kent values and adhere to ISO QMS and client specifications.

Kent is looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to be based in our Woking office, you'll join our Graduate Development Programme and work alongside experienced engineers on a variety of exciting energy projects. You'll gain hands-on experience, receive mentoring from industry professionals, and develop the technical and professional skills needed to build a successful engineering career. Recruitment Timeline

Hybrid Working

We follow a hybrid working model that combines office and remote work, with a requirement to be in the offices three days a week. This approach supports the development of a strong and effective team dynamic.

Skills & Responsibilities:
  • Functioning as part of a team of engineers and will mainly provide assistance to other engineers, or be responsible under close supervision.
  • Complete Kent Graduate Development Programme.
  • Corporate reporting line is to respective Mechanical Group Manager.

  • Undertakes specific tasks / area of work as defined by the lead / principal / senior engineer.
  • Executes allocated tasks within the requirements of the project execution plan and TDR.
  • Works to the requirements of the Mechanical Design Manual
  • Executes work in compliance with client specification, Kent’s ISO accredited QMS, and project specific procedures, guides and standards.
  • Performs related duties as and when instructed by lead / principal / senior engineer or group manager.
  • Providing input to preparation of deliverables by other engineers.
  • Providing input and support to decision making by other engineers.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad‑hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Yourknowledge/skills,education,andexperience:
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering – degree should be accredited by one of the professional engineering institutions.
  • Awareness applicable international and industry specifications, standards and codes.
  • Knowledge of Safety and Quality Procedures and best practice.
Communication:
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
