Job summary

Kent is seeking a Graduate Naval Architect Engineer based in London. As part of our global naval architecture teams, you will work on offshore wind and oil & gas projects, from concept through decommissioning, contributing to energy transition.

The graduate scheme offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and pathways to chartership, with a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office. Applicants should have a Master’s/MEng in Naval Architecture or related field and strong English

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of floating and fixed offshore structures.
  • Analyze vessels and offshore structures using hydrodynamic, mooring, stability and transport assessments.
  • Learn and use tools such as DNV SESAM, OrcaFlex, and Python.
  • Interface with clients to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.
  • Support external markets, business development and work-winning activities.

Kent is looking for a Graduate Naval Architect Engineer to be based in London.

Our Naval Architecture teams across the UK operate globally in both the Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas markets working towards reducing carbon emissions. As a graduate in one of our locations, you will be contributing to a variety of technically challenging and exciting projects, from designing new offshore wind farms, substations and floating concept designs, to supporting our clients through the range of consultancy services we offer, including feasibility studies, concept and sizing, and life extensions.

Hybrid Working

We follow a hybrid working model that combines office and remote work, with a requirement to be in the offices three days a week. This approach supports the development of a strong and effective team dynamic.

Skills & Responsibilities:

You’ll be joining a team spread across various UK locations that actively encourage and foster innovative solutions and new approaches to our client’s problems. It should be highlighted that the majority of the Naval Architecture team are based in our London office and this would be our preferred location for graduate development. You will be joining a RINA accredited Graduate Scheme to help you towards chartership. Your work could involve the following:

- Design and analysis of floating and fixed offshore structures. This could be fixed and floating offshore wind turbines, semi-submersibles, FPSO/FLNG vessels across the life of the asset, from concept study through to decommissioning.

- Analysis of vessels and offshore structures using techniques including: hydrodynamic analysis, mooring analysis, stability analysis, transportation analysis and structural assessments.

- Learning to use tools such as: DNV SESAM (inc. (inc. GeniE, HydroD, SIMA & Riflex), Orcina Orcaflex, and Python.

- Interfacing directly with clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.

- Supporting our external markets, business development and work winning activities.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Yourknowledge/skills,education,andexperience:

- Master’s/MEng degree in Naval Architecture, Maritime Engineering or Ship Science.

Communication:

- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
