Job summary

AWD online in Ipswich, Suffolk, East Anglia is hiring a Junior Mechanical or Electrical Engineer / Graduate Engineer. This entry-level role offers full product training and exposure to pumps, controls, drives, fittings and accessories.

You'll answer customer enquiries, help identify suitable products, prepare quotations, and support colleagues with product information. Training will cover a wide product portfolio and help you develop technical, communication and commercial skills.

Qualifications

• HND, HNC or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Interest in practical engineering applications, product selection and customer support.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple enquiries and prioritise workload effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Customer-focused mindset and willingness to help.
• Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into practical solutions.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Flexible, proactive team player.
• Motivation to learn and grow within a customer-focused engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer enquiries by phone and email, providing prompt, clear and professional support.
• Interpret customer requirements and help identify suitable pump systems and associated equipment.
• Recommend appropriate products based on the customer’s application, specification or problem.
• Prepare and issue accurate, competitive quotations based on customer requirements.
• Support the internal team with product information, application guidance and commercial insight.
• Build knowledge across pumps, control panels, variable speed drives, plastic fittings and accessories.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and help resolve or direct queries effectively.
• Provide basic guidance and practical support where required.
• Assist with order processing, enquiry tracking and general office administration.
• Maintain accurate records of enquiries, quotations and customer communications.
• Work closely with colleagues across sales, operations and technical teams to support smooth day-to-day activities.
