Job summary

Arup in the United Kingdom is seeking a Graduate Lighting Designer to assist on lighting projects from concept to detailed specifications. You’ll work with senior designers on national and international projects and begin contributing from day one.

This role offers learning opportunities, mentorship to achieve a professional qualification, and exposure to daylighting design, 3D modelling, renderings, and reports within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (2:1 or above) in Lighting, Architecture, Engineering, Product design, Interior design, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Landscape Design, Urban Design, Product Design, Data Science / Engineering or other relevant subject.
• Familiarity with 3D modelling software is desirable.
• Some knowledge of lighting software would be advantageous, including daylight analysis software.
• Some experience and ability in coding, software and digital skills would be advantageous.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Graduate Lighting Designer to join our team of bright professionals to assist on all aspects of lighting projects: from concept development to detailed lighting specifications. You’ll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. While you’ll have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we’ll give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills.

Working mainly with our senior designers on a wide range of national and international projects, and supporting other team members, this is an excellent opportunity to learn about lighting design, develop skills and subsequently work on your own projects.

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

Although you could be straight from university, ideally you may have gained experience in a lighting, architectural and/or engineering consultancy practice.

• No more than 12 months of full-time experience in a comparable role
• Recently graduated, or on track to graduate, from your most recent degree, related to your role of choice, before employment starts.
