Job description

A Future with Purpose

At Arup, we’re dedicated to sustainable development and to doing socially useful work that has meaning. Our purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

We solve the world's most complex problems and deliver what seems impossible. We explore challenges with curiosity and creativity—using technology, imagination, and rigour to deliver remarkable outcomes.

The Opportunity

As Landscape Architects at Arup, we expect our designers to think creatively and innovatively, developing the best outcomes for people, nature, and the environment. Our work plays a crucial role in climate change adaptation by working with natural systems in urban and rural environments to build resilience and mitigate risks. This includes creating green and blue infrastructure strategies, multi-functional and regenerative design, and applying sustainable principles throughout. You will be part of an award-winning team that designs and helps deliver ground-breaking and iconic projects across infrastructure, building design, and technical services. Independent in ownership and spirit, we're a global firm of designers, engineers, consultants, and technical experts committed to making a positive difference in the world.

Arup provides an integrated approach and delivers sustainable solutions for cities and complex environments. Our UK landscape teams are based in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Southampton, working on projects worldwide, with a focus on the UK, India, Middle East, and Africa. Our overseas teams are in Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney), Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai), and Europe (Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Istanbul, Madrid, Warsaw).

We differentiate ourselves by our ability to combine skills to solve complex or unusual problems and help clients create an integrated vision for successful, sustainable places.

Our landscape architecture services include:

  • Landscape-led masterplanning
  • Concept to detailed design and construction
  • Visualizations/3D modeling
  • Design guidelines and best practices
  • Nature-based design solutions
  • Feasibility studies and area strategies
  • Strategic planning, assessment, and policy review

Our teams work alongside urban design, architecture, ecology, town planning, sustainability, engineering, cost consulting, and project management professionals.

Your typical day-to-day responsibilities could include:

  • Assisting with design work and graphics
  • Preparing detailed construction drawings
  • Creating masterplan graphics
  • Producing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA)
  • Preparing clear and concise reports
  • Attending team meetings and project reviews
  • Conducting site surveys
  • Planning your workload to meet deadlines
Is this role right for you?

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline
  • A Master's or postgraduate diploma in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Management is desirable

This role is based in London, and we will consider London-based applications only.

For those with a Bachelor's degree, commitment to obtaining a postgraduate qualification for chartership is required.

We seek curious individuals eager to evolve their thinking and work practices. Our strength lies in respecting, sharing, and connecting diverse experiences and ideas. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective that encourages individuality.

If you can share your knowledge, communicate design ideas, and deliver excellent client service, we want to hear from you.

You should be able to start this opportunity in September 2025.

To be considered, please upload a PDF sample portfolio (max 20MB) in the 'supporting documents' section of your application, using image compression and vector drawings where possible.

What we offer you

At Arup, we care about each member’s success and growth. We provide an attractive total reward package, including competitive pay, benefits supporting health and wellbeing, learning opportunities, and impactful work.

Owned in trust on behalf of our members, we have the freedom to set our own direction and pursue work aligned with our purpose. Our members collaborate on ambitious projects to deliver remarkable outcomes. Profit Share allows members to share in our collective success. Additionally, we offer private medical insurance, life assurance, accident insurance, income protection, and adaptable benefits to support your wellbeing and personal needs.
