Job description

A Future with purpose

At Arup, we’re dedicated to sustainable development and to doing socially useful work that has meaning. Our purpose, shared values, and collaborative approach have set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

We solve the world's most complex problems and deliver what seems impossible. We explore challenges with curiosity and creativity—using technology, imagination, and rigour to deliver remarkable outcomes.

The Opportunity

As Landscape Architects at Arup, we expect our designers to think creatively and innovatively, developing the best outcomes for people, nature, and the environment. Our work plays a crucial role in climate change adaptation by working with natural systems in urban and rural environments to build resilience and mitigate risks. This includes creating green and blue infrastructure strategies, multi-functional and regenerative design, and applying sustainable principles throughout.

You will be part of an award-winning team that designs and helps deliver ground-breaking and iconic projects through our work in infrastructure, building design, and specialist technical services. Independent in ownership and spirit, we're a global firm of designers, engineers, consultants, and technical experts who use our skills to make a positive difference in the world.

Arup provides an integrated approach and delivers sustainable solutions to the design of cities and complex urban and rural environments. Our UK landscape teams are located in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, and Southampton, working on a variety of projects worldwide, with a focus on the UK, India, Middle East, and Africa. Our overseas landscape teams are in Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney), Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai), and Europe (Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Istanbul, Madrid, Warsaw).

We are distinguished by our ability to combine skills to solve complex or unusual problems and help clients create a sustainable, integrated vision.

Our landscape architecture services include:

  • Landscape-led master planning
  • Concept to detailed design and construction
  • Visualisations/3D modelling
  • Design guidelines and best practices
  • Nature-based design solutions
  • Feasibility studies and area strategies
  • Strategic planning, assessment, and policy review

Our teams collaborate closely with urban design, architecture, ecology, town planning, sustainability, engineering, cost consulting, and project management disciplines.

Your Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities Could Include
  • Assisting with design work and graphics
  • Preparing detailed construction drawings
  • Creating masterplan graphics
  • Producing Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA)
  • Preparing clear and concise reports
  • Attending team meetings, project reviews, and workshops
  • Conducting site surveys
  • Planning workload to meet deadlines
Is this role right for you?

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or a related discipline
  • A Master's or Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Management (desirable)

This role is based in London, and we will consider London-based applications only. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree must be committed to obtaining a postgraduate qualification to achieve chartership.

We value curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to share knowledge and communicate design ideas effectively. A desire to deliver excellent client services is essential. You should be able to start in September 2025.

Please upload your sample portfolio in PDF format (max 20MB) within the 'supporting documents' section of your application, using image compression and vector drawings where possible.

What we offer you

At Arup, we support your success and growth. Our total reward package includes competitive pay, benefits supporting health and wellbeing, learning opportunities, and impactful work. As a member-owned company, we foster collaboration on ambitious projects that deliver remarkable outcomes, with profit sharing and comprehensive insurance benefits tailored to your needs.
