Job summary

Spectrum Geosurvey in Lymington is seeking a Graduate Geophysicist to collect geophysical data in the field and assist with processing and interpretation in the office. This role provides a great opportunity to build industry-relevant skills while contributing to offshore renewables projects.

The successful candidate will have a background in geology or geophysics, with GIS knowledge, and a desire to develop data handling and reporting capabilities under experienced supervision.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geology, Geophysics or related marine science.
• Ability to solve problems and troubleshoot data.
• Experience with GIS/data management is a plus.
• UK work eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Undertake fieldwork for extended periods away from home on onshore and offshore projects.
• Assist with processing of geophysical datasets (side scan sonar, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiler).
• Assist with data archive and data repository management.
• Assist with mobilisations and equipment verifications under guidance.
• Assist with notifying software manufacturers of bugs and assist with solutions.
• Follow best practices for handling, maintaining and storing survey equipment.
• Create charts using QGIS or ArcGIS for project documentation.
• Perform data quality control and ensure compliance with project scope.
• Follow established data processing procedures and guidelines.
• Investigate inconsistencies in data and troubleshoot.
• Prepare reports based on geophysical data and interpretation.
• Identify seabed contact and characterisation.
• Assist in data acquisition, processing, records, and data management.
