Job summary

BakerHicks in the UK offers a two-year Graduate scheme designed to launch your engineering career in high voltage distribution. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams on real projects, gaining hands-on experience and professional development while preparing for Chartered Engineer status.

From day one you’ll receive on-the-job training, mentorship, and exposure to design, calculations, and project delivery across HV networks.

Qualifications

• 2:1 in a relevant engineering degree or closely related discipline.
• Interest in 11kV/33kV distribution networks, substations, cables and protection systems.
• Willingness to collaborate with engineers, clients, contractors and wider project teams in office and site environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the production of designs, calculations, reports, specifications, schedules and drawings for HV distribution projects up to 33kV.
• Assist with single line diagrams, cable sizing, voltage drop, fault level checks and protection coordination.
• Gain exposure to substations, switchgear, transformers, cabling, SCADA interfaces and distribution networks.
• Contribute to health and safety reviews and ensure buildability, sustainability and environmental compliance.
