Job summary

BMT is seeking a Graduate Data & AI Consultant (Applied Data Science) in Bath for a permanent, two-year graduate programme. The role supports data science, AI and consultancy across Defence, government and regulated settings with hybrid working across Bath, Bristol, London, Fareham.

UK security clearance is required. You will work with experienced data scientists, AI researchers and engineers, building strong foundations in applied data science and professional consultancy.

Qualifications

• Degree in a discipline involving programming, data, quantitative analysis or scientific problem-solving.
• Practical experience using Python for data or analytical projects.
• Foundation in data preparation, statistics, machine learning and AI principles.
• Interest in working within regulated, high-consequence environments.

Responsibilities

• Explore, prepare and analyse data to understand customer problems and identify useful evidence.
• Develop and test analytical, statistical, machine-learning or AI approaches.
• Evaluate performance, limitations and risks, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Contribute to prototypes, tools and data products that address user needs.
• Apply coding best practices including version control, review, testing and documentation.
• Collaborate with Data Science, AI researchers, software and governance teams.
• Engage with domain specialists across Cyber, Safety, Environment and Naval Engineering.
