Job summary

Applied Data Science Partners in London is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the technical delivery of complex software, data and AI projects in the Defence sector, combining deep technical expertise with project leadership and client engagement.

You will rapidly grasp new problem spaces, collaborate with domain experts, and deliver robust production-ready solutions, while mentoring engineers and shaping practical technical strategies.

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative or technical field.
• Experience leading complex software/AI projects from design to deployment.
• Defence sector experience or related domains is highly desirable.
• Ability to rapidly understand complex domain problems and derive technical solutions.
• Experience leading client meetings with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction and architecture of projects.
• Oversee delivery of production-ready code and systems.
• Design backend services, APIs, data pipelines and integrations.
• Build AI systems, including LLMs and ML solutions.
• Lead project delivery teams and client workshops.
