As a Graduate Commissioning Manager, you will be part of a 100% employee-owned organization that supports your career growth and success.

Primary Objectives

The role involves ensuring building services systems are properly commissioned and meet requirements, supported by senior engineers. Responsibilities include:

  1. Deliver commitments to clients on time with quality.
  2. Manage the commissioning process as directed by senior engineers.
  3. Validate commissioning results against requirements.
  4. Inspect existing systems for performance.
  5. Provide advice on commissioning strategies and scopes of work.
  6. Perform measurements, surveys, and technical inspections.

Additionally:

  1. Engage with team members to improve systems and procedures.
  2. Become a champion in a technical area over time.
  3. Promote HDR through marketing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Always act safely, complying with health and safety policies.
  • Work diligently, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Ensure technical compliance and high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with contractors and clients on commissioning strategies.
  • Adopt HDR’s project management systems.
  • Attend meetings and assist in preparing reports.
  • Develop project-specific commissioning documents and procedures.
  • Review drawings, manuals, and technical submittals.
  • Support the development of method statements and test scripts.
  • Work with the team to evaluate progress and challenges.
  • Perform hands-on commissioning work as needed.
  • Assist in planning, monitoring, and managing commissioning activities.
  • Ensure document control and participate in stakeholder workshops.
  • Review commissioning programs and trade contractor method statements.
  • Conduct site walks and interface with package managers.
  • Attend weekly meetings, drive resource planning, and record minutes.
  • Compile test documentation and witness testing activities.

General Duties

  • Arrange test instrumentation and assist in tender development.
  • Complete timesheets accurately and maintain a CPD diary.
  • Develop understanding of relevant legislation and standards.
  • Learn commissioning techniques and other disciplines.
  • Attend training and share knowledge.
  • Maintain QA systems on projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, or working towards it.
  • Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Personable with a proactive attitude and resource management experience.
  • Clear, professional communication skills.
  • Organized, team-oriented, and willing to travel as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
