Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join its Gateshead team. You will support planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure while developing your technical skills.

You will work with experienced engineers across disciplines and gain exposure to drafting, calculations and design documentation, with Chartership support and structured development. Salary £28,000–£34,000 plus pension, bonus, and benefits.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Interest in water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure.
• Good understanding of core civil engineering principles.
• Familiarity with engineering design software or digital tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support civil design across water and wastewater projects.
• Assist with drawings, calculations, reports and design documentation.
• Work alongside civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineers.
• Develop understanding of water infrastructure and hydraulic principles.
• Apply CDM and health and safety requirements to project work.
• Develop experience with engineering design software and digital tools.
• Support project teams through design and delivery stages.
