Job summary

@one Alliance in East of England is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team and deliver innovative water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You’ll work with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams across feasibility to construction, developing technical knowledge and contributing to real-world outcomes.

You will learn to apply British Standards, Eurocodes and industry guidance while using CAD and design software to support projects and client engagement.

Qualifications

• BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering with a minimum 2:2.
• Knowledge of structural calculations for concrete structures.
• Understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and industry guidance.
• Experience or knowledge of civil engineering design in water/wastewater.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Robot, STAAD Pro or TEDDS.
• Ability to produce clear technical sketches and communicate design ideas.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management.
• Willingness to learn and develop.
• Chartered Engineer status desirable.

Are you a Graduate Civil Engineer looking to build your career in the water industry?

We’re looking for a Graduate Civil Engineer to join our team and play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the East of England.

Working as part of the @one Alliance, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, developing your technical knowledge and gaining valuable experience across projects from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction.

What will you be doing?

As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you’ll support the development and delivery of civil engineering designs, while learning from experienced colleagues and contributing to projects that make a real difference to communities and the environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the development and coordination of civil engineering designs and multidisciplinary teams.
• Assisting with the delivery of clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Applying engineering principles, British Standards and Eurocodes to the design of civil engineering and reinforced concrete structures.
• Supporting the design of pipelines, including pressure and gravity systems, open channels and closed conduits.
• Producing technical sketches and contributing to design development and modelling.
• Supporting projects from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction.
• Using CAD and relevant engineering software to support design and modelling activities.
• Assisting with design risk assessments and ensuring appropriate risk management is considered throughout the design process.
• Supporting the preparation of Pre-Construction Information and Health & Safety documentation.
• Assisting with site surveys, site investigations and topographical survey requirements.
• Working with contractors, specialist suppliers and other disciplines to resolve technical queries and support project delivery.
• Contributing to quality assurance and ensuring designs comply with relevant standards and requirements.
• Monitoring design progress against programme, cost and quality requirements.
• Identifying opportunities for innovation and more efficient ways of working.

The role will also involve developing strong relationships with clients, operational teams, contractors and colleagues across different disciplines.

What are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing their career in civil engineering and has a genuine interest in the water and wastewater sector.

You’ll ideally have:

• A BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a minimum 2:2 degree classification.
• Knowledge of structural calculations for concrete structures such as slabs, beams and liquid-retaining structures.
• An understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant industry guidance.
• Experience or knowledge of civil engineering design within the water and wastewater industry.
• Competence using Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Robot, STAAD Pro or TEDDS.
• The ability to produce clear technical sketches and communicate design ideas effectively.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Good analytical and report-writing skills.
• A willingness and enthusiasm to learn and develop.

Working towards Chartered Engineer status through an appropriate professional institution, such as the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers, would be desirable.
