Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a Graduate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Newcastle. This role offers the chance to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs and to gain valuable experience across SEND, learning support and classroom inclusion.

You'll work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to adapt activities, breakdown tasks and promote independence, confidence and emotional regulation, helping the pupil access daily lessons and

Qualifications

• We are looking for graduates who are passionate about working with children and interested in SEND and child development.
• A degree in Psychology, Education, Sociology, Criminology or Childhood Studies would be particularly relevant.
• No extensive experience required; the right attitude matters.
• Care, empathy, resilience and professionalism are valued traits.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Help the pupil access lessons and activities.
• Break down tasks to make learning more accessible.
• Encourage independence and confidence.
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Assist with transitions and changes in routine.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
• Collaborate with teachers and the wider SEN team.
