Protocol Education is seeking a Graduate 1:1 Learning Support Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Newcastle. Start ASAP on a long-term contract with potential for permanency.

You will provide dedicated 1:1 support, help the pupil access lessons, and foster engagement and independence while collaborating with teachers and SEN staff. Ideal candidates are graduates with an interest in SEND, child development, psychology or education.

Qualifications

• Graduates with an interest in SEND, child development, psychology, education or behaviour.
• Qualifications in listed relevant subjects preferred.
• No prior SEN experience required but genuine interest and suitability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil.
• Help the pupil access lessons and activities.
• Encourage engagement, confidence and independence.
• Support communication and emotional regulation.
• Help manage transitions throughout the school day.
• Adapt activities to suit individual needs.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.
• Work closely with teachers and SEN staff.
• Follow individual support plans and contribute to progress.
