Job summary

The Portchester Practice is seeking an experienced Practice Manager to lead the practice’s operational, financial and strategic management in Portchester, Hampshire. The role reports to the GP Partners and oversees delivery of high-quality patient care for about 11,300 patients.

We welcome applicants with senior management experience, either as a Practice Manager or Deputy, and with strong leadership, organisational and NHS knowledge.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior management position.
• Excellent leadership and people management skills.
• Strong financial and business management experience.
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
• Experience of managing change and leading organisational improvement.
• Commitment to delivering excellent patient services.
• Previous GP Practice Manager or Deputy PM experience preferred.
• Good understanding of NHS Primary Care and General Practice.
• Knowledge of GMS contracts, CQC requirements and NHS performance frameworks.
• Experience in workforce planning and HR management.
• Experience using GP clinical systems such as EMIS Web.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and operational management of the practice.
• Lead, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary team.
• Manage the day-to-day running of the practice, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
• Oversee practice finances, budgeting, payroll and business planning.
• Ensure compliance with NHS contractual requirements, CQC regulations, employment legislation and information governance standards.
• Lead workforce planning, recruitment, staff development and performance management.
• Develop and implement service improvements and support innovation.
• Build effective relationships with the Primary Care Network, NHS organisations and other external stakeholders.
• Support the Partners in delivering the long-term strategic vision of the practice.
