Job summary

South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority is seeking a Governance Officer to support governance, risk management and assurance across the organisation. The role, based at Sheffield Head Office, offers hybrid working and is a fixed-term maternity cover of 13 months.

You will identify and manage risks, maintain governance processes, and help produce assurance information for senior leaders, committees and boards while promoting a culture of accountability.

Qualifications

• Experience in governance, risk, audit or compliance environments.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support governance, risk management and assurance activities across SYMCA.
• Assist with governance reviews, audits and improvement actions.
• Maintain governance documentation and risk registers.
• Produce reports and assurance information for senior leaders and boards.
• Help develop governance policies, procedures and training.
• Promote a positive governance culture and stakeholder collaboration.
