Job summary

East West Railway Company in Milton Keynes seeks a Governance Lead to own and evolve the corporate governance framework, working directly with the Chair and senior leaders to shape governance at a defining stage of the company’s development.

You will lead governance operations, advise on authority and accountability, and build a capable governance team while ensuring decisions are properly governed and auditable across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering corporate governance in a regulated, publicly accountable setting.
• Ability to influence at Board and executive level with auditable records.
• Solid understanding of UK corporate governance and company secretarial requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day governance operation with clear priorities and standards.
• Maintain governance architecture and delegated authorities across papers and decisions.
• Build a governance service with a reliable secretariat and sound governance advice.
• Manage conflicts of interest regime and gifts/hospitality registers ensuring auditable records.
• Develop and lead the governance team and set its priorities.
• Advise the Chair, Board and executives on governance and decision-making.
• Provide independent advice, challenge where needed, and plan ahead agendas.
• Identify governance gaps early to protect programme delivery.
• Promote governance as enabler of timely delivery with proportionate guidance.
