Job summary

Deliveroo, based in London, is building a robust fraud protection backend for its global platforms. We are seeking a Backend Engineer (Golang) to design real-time detection and enforcement for payout and payment flows, partnering with risk analysts and data scientists across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo.

You will ship high-throughput services, contribute to architectural decisions, and help set patterns for future financial products in a fast-growing, multi-brand environment.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• 1+ years of production experience in Golang or strong experience in another backend language.
• Working understanding of low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases; exposure to event-driven architectures (Kafka or similar).
• Willingness to operate what you build, including on-call, with a pragmatic reliability mindset.
• Uses AI tooling in day-to-day development and evaluates its outputs.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-throughput, low-latency backend services in Go for real-time fraud scoring and payout workflows.
• Design fraud detection and automated enforcement across multiple brands and regions.
• Extend the shared fraud decisioning platform to reuse signals, rules, and models cross-brand.
• Collaborate with risk analysts, data scientists, and product managers to translate patterns into deployed detection.
• Work with account security, payments fraud, and financial product teams to reuse signals and interfaces.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and set baseline fraud infrastructure with senior engineers.
• Write well-tested, observable code and maintain high quality standards in the fraud domain.
