Job summary

Deliveroo is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Golang) to design and scale low-latency services powering our global support tools and customer platform. You will lead architectural decisions, mentor others, and own critical components from design to production.

You'll collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams across the globe, write well-tested Go code, and help us raise the bar on reliability and performance as we scale to millions of users and thousands of partners.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and scaling complex systems.
• 2+ years of production Golang experience; ability to mentor others.
• Strong hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, especially Cassandra.
• Solid understanding of designing and operating low-latency, high-throughput distributed systems.
• Previous on-call experience with pragmatic incident management.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain high-throughput backend services in Go.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend developers to ship features for global support agents.
• Design systems that are scalable, resilient, and easy to maintain.
• Lead and contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
• Write well-tested code and help the team maintain high code quality standards.
