Job summary

Wheely, a premium transportation platform, seeks a Mid/Senior Backend Engineer to join the Marketplace team in West London. You will focus on Go-based backend services, design scalable microservices, and collaborate with product managers and data scientists to optimize pricing and matching.

The role offers a four-day office week with one remote day, private medical and dental insurance, stock options, relocation and visa sponsorship support, and modern development tools including AWS, Kubernetes

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining scalable backend services.
• Go is used; strong fundamentals welcomed even if you know other languages.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Upper-Intermediate English (B2) or higher, comfortable debating technical trade-offs.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant Go code for backend services.
• Implement new microservices while migrating away from legacy services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and data scientists to translate requirements into designs.
• Ensure systems stay responsive under heavy load, optimizing latency and reliability.
