Wheely, a premium transportation scale-up in West London, is hiring a Backend Engineer to build high-quality Go services, ship fast with TDD, DDD, and CI/CD, and migrate from a Ruby monolith while maintaining performance under heavy load.

Tech stack includes PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, gRPC, Thrift, AWS, Kubernetes, with Terraform for infra. The role is hybrid: four days in the office and one remote day, with relocation support for UK candidates.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining backend services.
• Go experience is a plus; other languages acceptable.
• Relational and NoSQL databases knowledge (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ or Kafka and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Write high-quality, performant code primarily in Go.
• Implement new microservices and migrate away from legacy services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and data scientists on designs.
• Ensure systems stay responsive under heavy load, with low latency and high reliability.
