Job summary

Cartisian Recruitment is seeking a Technical Project Engineer to support a global components supplier. You will review drawings and samples, liaise with overseas manufacturers (primarily China), and translate requirements into precise technical specifications for production.

You will have a mechanical engineering background, strong ability to interpret specs and manage multiple technical projects, with emphasis on casting processes, tolerances and manufacturing feasibility.

Qualifications

• Background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or technical project engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specs and samples.
• Knowledge of metal castings, materials, tolerances and common defects.
• Ability to query technical requirements and develop detailed manufacturing specs.
• Understanding of machining, forging and fabrication processes.
• Experience dealing with manufacturers or suppliers to resolve technical queries.

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings, specifications and samples to establish requirements.
• Liaise with overseas manufacturers to discuss component specs and manufacturing methods.
• Ask technical questions to establish detailed engineering specs for production.
• Review casting designs, materials, tolerances and manufacturing feasibility.
• Coordinate development of new and replacement components from enquiry to production.
• Review samples and inspection reports to ensure compliance.
• Investigate manufacturing problems with suppliers to agree solutions.
• Maintain technical documentation and track project progress to meet specs and delivery timescales.
