Clifton Search is seeking a UK-based Senior Sole Counsel to lead a newly acquired part of a global software/tech group. The role requires hands-on leadership across the business, advising on commercial contracts, international arrangements, and regulatory matters.
Ideal candidate will be UK-qualified with senior-level experience in software/telecom/media environments, including licensing (SaaS/IaaS/PaaS), data protection, and IP portfolio management. US experience is helpful, based in the UK.
Qualifications
- UK-qualified solicitor with senior/lead experience
- Experience in software/tech, media and telecoms environments
- Proven track record negotiating high-value international contracts
- Experience with software licensing, SaaS/IaaS/PaaS
- Experience advising on data protection and privacy compliance
- IP portfolio management and regulatory strategy experience
Responsibilities
- Full legal responsibility across the newly acquired organisation
- Advising and negotiating and leading on a wide range of commercial contracts
- Lead experience with international contracts or contracts under foreign laws
- Robust negotiation skills for high-value customer contracts
- Experience in software licensing, SaaS/IaaS/PaaS
- Advising on global data protection issues
- Lead compliance efforts related to privacy and consumer protection laws
- AI/ML regulatory strategy
- IP portfolio management
