Job summary

Clifton Search is seeking a UK-based Senior Sole Counsel to lead the legal function for a newly acquired software/tech division within a global group. The role is highly autonomous and requires hands-on leadership across commercial contracts, licensing, data protection, and regulatory strategy.

You will advise on international contracts, manage privacy/compliance, and contribute to IP strategy while collaborating with a worldwide executive team.

Qualifications

• UK qualified solicitor with senior leadership experience.
• Experience in software/tech sector.
• Experience with international contracts and cross-border matters.
• Knowledge of data protection/privacy laws and licensing contracts (SaaS/IaaS/PaaS).

Responsibilities

• Full legal responsibility across the newly acquired organisation.
• Advising, negotiating and leading on a wide range of commercial contracts.
• Significant lead experience of international contracts or those under foreign laws.
• Lead compliance efforts related to privacy and consumer protection laws.
• AI/ML regulatory strategy development.
• IP portfolio management.
