Job summary

Barbour, a heritage British lifestyle brand, is seeking a Global Social Media & Community Manager for maternity cover. Based at our South Shields Head Office, the role leads end-to-end organic social strategy and content, aligning with brand tone, visual identity and commercial objectives across Barbour and Barbour International.

You will oversee content calendars, platform-native content, and community management while collaborating with Global Campaign Managers and external agencies.

Qualifications

• Brand or ecommerce social media management experience.
• Degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.
• Excellent social copywriting skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Ability to analyse data and inform reports.
• Initiative and problem-solving mindset.
• Attention to detail in copy and visuals.
• Confident working with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with fashion brands is a plus.
• Influencer or blogging experience.
• Familiarity with Storystream/UGC tools and Meta Commerce Manager.

Responsibilities

• Lead global organic social media strategy for Barbour and Barbour International.
• Own the global social content calendar and approval processes.
• Drive social-first campaign planning with Global Campaign Managers.
• Create and deliver platform-native social content with visual direction.
• Set brand tone and governance across markets.
• Collaborate with PR, Comms and Customer Service on crises and insights.
• Build relationships with influencers and talent; oversee agencies.
• Support local market social activity with global alignment.
