Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel in Yeovil is seeking an experienced Shipping Department Manager to lead Import and Export operations within Contract Logistics. You will ensure processes meet customs and customer requirements, monitor KPIs, and drive improvements across the team.

The role requires 5+ years in shipping, 3+ years of supervision, and strong SAP/Leonardo OS skills. You will develop staff, manage audits, and build strong stakeholder relationships to sustain service quality and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years in a shipping environment.
5 A*-Cs including Maths and English at GCSE.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels.

Responsibilities

Manage the Shipping Department including Import and Export operations.
Ensure compliance with customs, trade and customer requirements.
Monitor team productivity, KPIs and service levels; implement corrective actions.
Identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement to reduce delays.
Oversee shipping priorities, escalation management, and recovery plans.
Maintain reporting, work instructions and process documentation.
Lead compliance activities including audits and root-cause analysis.
Coach and develop teams; support recruitment and employee relations.
Build stakeholder and customer relationships; support projects and audits.
