Job summary

Stripe is seeking a Global Sanctions Lead to own and evolve the sanctions function across geographies. You will lead regional teams, drive transformation, and collaborate with Engineering and Product to modernize sanctions operations.

You will ensure audit trails, respond to regulatory exams, and translate evolving OFAC, EU, HMT, and UN regimes into program requirements while reporting to senior leadership on health and performance.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years in sanctions compliance or financial crimes with senior leadership experience.
• Deep expertise in major global sanctions regimes (OFAC, EU, HMT, UN).
• Proven track record of improving sanctions program operations.
• Experience evaluating sanctions tooling, including vendor platforms.
• Ability to partner credibly with Engineering and Product on tooling and automation.
• Effective communicator with regulators, senior leadership, and engineering teams.
• Experience with sanctions screening platforms and AI-assisted screening tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop sanctions managers and analysts across regions, ensuring quality and throughput at scale.
• Own the strategic direction of Stripe's global sanctions program, screening coverage and escalation frameworks.
• Drive the sanctions transformation roadmap, moving toward automation and smarter detection.
• Partner with Engineering and Product as a co-designer, translating requirements into tooling inputs.
• Ensure audit trails and examiner-readiness; lead through regulatory exams and inquiries.
• Serve as the senior escalation point for complex casework.
• Maintain awareness of evolving sanctions regulations globally (OFAC, EU, HMT, UN) and translate changes into requirements.
• Report program health, emerging typologies, and team performance to senior leadership.
